What exactly does Dianatal Obstetric Gel do?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel helps reduce friction during birth and thus makes childbirth easier, shorter and gentler: the expulsion phase can be up to 30% shorter, and the risk of injury to the perineum can be reduced by more than half.

Is Dianatal Obstetric Gel really harmless for me and my baby?

Based on the ingredients of Dianatal Obstetric Gel and also the results of clinical tests in more than 300 births, no side effects are expected for mother or child. Dianatal Obstetric Gel is safe for mother and child.

Has the effect of Dianatal Obstetric Gel been scientifically proven?

The efficacy of Dianatal Obstetric Gel has been proven not only in a birth model in the laboratory but also in clinical testing.

Does Dianatal Obstetric Gel also protect against tears of the perineum?

Clinical tests have demonstrated that Dianatal Obstetric Gel protects the perineum.

How does Dianatal Obstetric Gel work?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel forms a bioadhesive lubricating film on the vagina, helping the baby to slide out more easily.

Can Dianatal Obstetric Gel be used at every birth?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel can, in principle, be used at every vaginal birth. Dianatal Obstetric Gel is also particularly suitable for water births. There are a few rare situations in which Dianatal Obstetric Gel should not be used for safety reasons. Your midwife and your attending doctors have been informed about these cases.

Who applies Dianatal Obstetric Gel?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel is applied by midwives or doctors during birth.

Why are there two different types of Dianatal Obstetric Gel?

1. Dianatal Obstetric Gel Stage 1 is thick and thus particularly suitable for the dilation stage.

2. Dianatal Obstetric Gel Stage 2 is fluid and thus particularly suitable for the expulsion stage.

Why has Dianatal Obstetric Gel not been available until now?

Unfortunately, knowledge about easing birth by using obstetric gel got lost along the way in "modern obstetrics" in humans. In Ancient Rome, olive oil was used to ease childbirth. In veterinary medicine, on the other hand, obstetric gels are routinely prescribed to help ease the process of birth. Dianatal Obstetric Gel is the only obstetric gel specially developed for birth in women which is suitable for this purpose and has been tested and licensed.

Why should one not use a "normal gel"?

The safety and efficacy of “normal gels” cannot be guaranteed due to their ingredients. Dianatal Obstetric Gel has special properties which other gels do not have. .

Why should one not use a perineum massage oil?

Perineum massage oil increases friction in combination with amniotic fluid. Furthermore, like other oils, the essential oils in perineum massage oils can irritate the eyes of the baby, cause foreign-body reactions and have other serious side effects.

Are amniotic fluid and vernix not already naturally "slippery" enough?

Whereas amniotic fluid in itself is not slippery, vernix is. Unfortunately, in most newborns, the vernix has largely disappeared, so that no longer offers any relief during birth.

Is friction really relevant during childbirth?

Friction between the so-called birth canal and the baby is an important force which can impede birth. If friction is reduced by an obstetric gel, the birth becomes easier. A similar example is the use of a lubricating gel during sex or the use of soap to slip a ring from the finger more easily.

Will my health insurance cover the cost of Dianatal Obstetric Gel?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel is not covered by statutory health insurance. However, many health insurers cover the costs on request. Ask your health insurer for more information.
