Why use Dianatal Obstetric Gel?

Dianatal Obstetric Gel
• facilitates a shorter and less painful birth process
• saves energy of both mother and child
• protects the pelvic floor, vagina and perineum

Dianatal Obstetric Gel forms an adhesive lubricating film on the vagina, which reduces frictional forces. It helps the baby to glide through the birth canal more easily. This not only eases childbirth, but also protects the vagina. In primigravidas, Dianatal Obstetric Gel was shown to reduce the birth expulsion phase by 30% (26 min.), and also the entire childbirth process by 30% (106 min.)

The vaginal tissue or the perineum can suffer spontaneous lacerations during the expulsion phase. This occurs in around 45% of all vaginal births. In certain situations, the midwife or the obstetrician try to prevent an uncontrolled rupture of membranes by making a small, targeted incision.
The examinations also show that there are significantly fewer incidences of a ruptured perineum if Dianatal Obstetric Gel is used.

Dianatal Obstetric Gel - additional advantage: Protection of the vagina and perineum (not illustrated).
Furthermore, Dianatal Obstetric Gel supports and facilitates water births and births requiring the use of a vacuum extractor or birth forceps.

What is Dianatal Obstetric Gel

The Dianatal Obstetric Gel Kit contains two different types of obstetric gel which are applied by the obstetrician or midwife at different intervals during the dilation and expulsion phase. Dianatal Stage 1 is for the dilation, Dianatal Stage 2 for the expulsion phase.

Dianatal Obstetric Gel is inserted into the vagina by the midwife or the physician after the vaginal examination once cervical dilation has begun. A special applicator designed to make the application of the gel less unpleasant for both the mother and the unborn child is used for this. The product is applied several times after the vaginal examination.

Dianatal Obstetric Gel is:
• sterile & comes in a sterile packaging
• mucoadhesive in the vagina
• non-allergenic and non-pyrogenic
• bactericide
• electroconductive and isotonic
• latex-free
• free of preservatives
• tolerated by eyes and mucous membranes

Dianatal was specially developed in Switzerland to facilitate vaginal birth. Dianatal is manufactured in Germany. Dianatal is the only licensed obstetric gel worldwide.
